The first issue of the Real Estate Daily News was published on September 7, 2007. The first subscriber was its Editor, Earl Niemoth. From that date through May 1, 2010, circulation has grown to 313,000 mostly by word of mouth. We have written 564 issues of the Real Estate Daily News in that nearly three year period of time. Of the nineteen daily newspapers in the State of Florida in circulation, the Real Estate Daily News now ranks number 6.
The initial objective was to assemble in one place information pertaining to the real estate market that would be very timely, accurate, and verifiable. After about one month of publication, the Editor saw that the information being gathered really affected a cross section of readers, not just people directly involved in the real estate business. Real Estate involves everybody!
The Real Estate Daily News is an aggregator of news. What that means is that we gather the news from a variety of sources daily. We started with about 40, and mostly newspapers, including all of the dailies in Florida and the Midwest. Through May 1, 2010 we added major magazines, trade groups, and the publications from major governmental departments. The list of sources is now over 230 and growing every week. 25% of our sources have come from suggestions from our readers.
Finally, the Real Estate Daily News is an E Newspaper. We cover all 19 dailies in Florida, plus 27 dailies in the Midwest. As an E Newspaper in the Midwest, we cover Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan and Indiana. There is no other newspaper that has this coverage: 45 newspapers aweek during an average week. The National coverage includes over 75 business magazines, 40 trade associations, and 20 professional groups. In the International arena, we cover more that 25 English speaking newspapers on four continents.
We were lucky. Our original layout hasn't changed over these 564 issues. The Real Estate Daily News stories have a lead headline, and an initial paragraph of what the headline is about. Lastly - the most important item - is the source. The Editor feels that the original writer of an article includes his / her personal biases, pejorative terms and the like. This is where the Real Estate Daily News is so unique. We actually include the link to the article itself.
The final approach was e-mail to all of our subscribers M - F the Real Estate Daily News, while making it available on this web site. We suggest to our readers they go to the web site edition. It's identical to the email, and it is available about 6:15AM EDST.
